What is Astroshamanism?

With the entrance of the Sun in Gemini, the voyage through the zodiac moves through the mental realm of communication, information and thoughts. From a multidimensional perspective, everything we see is the result of mental activity. Our thoughts cause ongoing and pragmatic effects in our perception of life. These thoughts are either aligned with our human separated reality (HAC) or with our multidimensional nature. Every thought that we have contributes either to preserve the illusion of separation or to reawaken the awareness of unity. The ego separated mind is based upon the repression and denial of the multidimensional mind. For this purpose it employs a large variety of tools aimed at diverting awareness, letting the mind slip away and trashing information coming from expanded sources. As human beings, we have the capacity to watch our minds, purposefully engaging with the healing web of life and shunning the deceptive anti-spam filters of the ego. Here the junk-mail folder may unveil some nuggets from time to time!

I have just concluded the Astroshamanic Trance Dance and Drumming Training, which was my 100^th one-week workshop at the Findhorn Foundation. I am now starting the 101^st one-week workshop, titled Spiritual Practice (19-26 May), and then the 102^nd (Working with the Spirit of Cluny Garden, 26 May–1 June). Two weeks ago I had the pleasure to take part in the Shamanic Spirituality conference at Edinburgh, where I was pleased to meet dear shamanic friends, getting to know also other healing practitioners and academic people. The event was held at St.George’s West Church, in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre. There I had the privilege to hold a full Basic Ritual of the Sacred Cone, with tambourine drumming, Jew’s harping, dancing and singing.

Non-HAC Traits in the Astrological Chart – Part One by Franco Santoro

There are various factors in the astrological chart indicating the presence of relevant non-HAC elements. In this article, we are going to look at some of them, which I call Non-HAC Traits. The presence or lack of these traits has nothing to do with the level of perception or evolution of the person involved. The natal chart merely describes a potential whose actual expression depends on the subject, who is not necessarily aware of it. Non-HAC Traits include alien and mutant characters.

The term alien traits was coined by Edwin C. Steinbrecher[ii] to identify specialised non-ordinary talents and skills, through the presence or absence of planets in specific astrological positions. The term is not employed to designate an extra-terrestrial origin, but to define subjective feelings regarding the nature and experience on Earth of the person involved. People with alien traits are often aware of their powers until their first transit of Saturn square their natal Saturn, which occurs around the age of seven. This is a crucial time for most children. Here the original Non-HAC intention of the person may clash with the HAC environment and its demands, marking the release of all perceptions incompatible with conventional reality and launching the establishment of the HAC defence system. The child, as he connects with HAC education and customs, starts to learn the cunning tricks of this world and finally installs the mask of his ego. This time seems to have extreme consequences for people with alien traits. They may impose themselves on their friends, creating a veil of reverence, fear and mystery around them. They may also isolate themselves or behave in unusual ways so that they are seen as weird or abnormal. As a result they are likely to receive either a social or self-inflicted ban. In both cases these subjects may assume that they are different from other people and easily build an ego based on a strong sense of alienation. In order to survive in the family and social environment, alien characters are often forced to suffocate their nature and non ordinary capacities or to live them in total secrecy as if they were addictions or perversions. As their environment looks at their potentials as anomalies or a source of danger, those who have them also end up condemning them as negative.

During adolescence, and especially at the time of the transit of Saturn opposed Saturn (14-15 years) and the following Saturn square Saturn (21-22 years), alien characters can experience acute phases of depression with consequences that risk becoming fatal (accidents, suicides, addiction to drugs, etc.). A typical feature of aliens, as well as mutants, is usually that of experiencing strong traumas in the prenatal time or in the first months of life. In order to outlive such wounds they tend to find refuge in non-HAC. This causes their connections with those environments to open up exceptionally or prematurely. Although they are apparently present in HAC, their perceptions are not. It follows that they can easily experience themselves as living in this world as aliens. According to circumstances and the nature of their energetic connections, these individuals develop and transform in various ways. Alien and mutant characters of Neptune and Uranus, for example, generally have an early development of their higher chakras leading to the expression of excessive subtle frequencies (compared to those of the Earth) which reflect into strong limitation and dissatisfaction toward material life. In these instances, to balance such energies and express them as talents in HAC, they often need to open up to lower chakras and ground their energy into the Earth.

Alien traits consist of powers, vessels, instruments and adepts. The Alien Powers are those with the Sun in conjunction with Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto (allowing a 8° orb).[iii] They operate as gateways bringing energy from non-HAC to HAC. They have the capacity to extend or radiate their specific energy field into the physical plane, affecting and changing all they connect with. Their task is to bring awareness of other dimensions and states of perception mainly related to non-HAC. They have profound effects on others whether or not they are conscious of their talents. “They are like arrows of light and roaring thunderbolts that proudly storm in the somnolence of nocturnal darkness. Each in its way, proud and with no hesitation, breaks off and suspends the fragile hallucinations of mankind, levelling and indicating the way to those who in that moment are awake”.[iv] According to Steinbrecher they possess a high priest function, whether in a male or female body.

Saturnian Powers have an intrinsic and multidimensional understanding of the manifestation process and are potentially capable of giving form to any intention they choose to focus upon, maximising the value of available resources and operating with relentless persistence until the goal is achieved. They rule over all features of third dimensional reality, including time, sacred geometry, structures, minerals, official religions, government. They have a grounding function, which allows firm integration of multidimensional elements into ordinary reality. Steinbrecher describes them as “the oldest of the Aliens, along with the Saturnian Vessels and Instruments” operating as “testers and guardians of humanity”. The house position of the Sun provides details on the area where Saturn Powers can more easily concentrate their energy. Unconsciousness or rejection of their potentials results in depression, desolation, lethargy, rigidity, dogmatism, tyranny, fear, isolation and other Saturnian grievances. These need to be gradually released in order for the creative alien power to consciously shine.

Famous Saturn Power Aliens are: Robert Duvall, O. Henry, Billy Corgan, Matt Dillon, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Joseph Haydn, Deborah Kerr, C.W. Leadbeater, Warren Harding, Rock Hudson, Robert Kennedy, Somerset Maugham, Arthur Schopenhauer, Sir Walter Scott, James Whitmore, Charlie Parker.

Uranian Powers have a perception dwelling mainly in non-HAC and uncorrupted by HAC third-dimensional limitations. Inventive, creative, original, they can easily connect with parallel universes and other spheres of time, channelling stunning and most advanced views, insights and projects. They are unique beings, exemplifying the features of the genius and liberator, also endowed, as Steinbrecher puts it, with “instant empathy”, i.e. “generating in others the feeling that the other person has known them forever – that they are old friends and confidants beyond time.” Their presence tends to stimulate change and even disruption or destruction of whatever is rigidly established or taken for granted. Unconsciousness or rejection of their potentials results in chaos, perversion, iconoclasm, electrical physical charges, shocks, accidents, antisocial behaviour, violence. Some famous people with Uranian alien traits are: Angelica Huston, Meredith Baxter, Sigmund Freud, Donald Trump, Meryl Streep, W.B. Yeats, Paul Verlaine, Richard Strauss, Omar Sharif, Ramakrishna, Pat Robertson, Luigi Pirandello, Marcel Proust, Louis Pasteur, Pierpaolo Pasolini, Margaret Mead, Steve McQuinn, Anthony Perkins, Jane Mansfield, Shirley MacLaine, Jerry Lewis, Danny Kaye, Herbert Hoover.

Neptunian Powers are masters of trance states, mystery traditions, dream-work, shamanic dance, multidimensional arts and non-HAC voyages. They are unable to decipher separation, constantly perceiving the links to the web of life and the dissolution of rigid structures or boundaries, which allows them to express spontaneous compassion, sensitivity and unconditional love. “They are extremely light sensitive, and need to protect their eyes. They need to shower immediately whenever they feel down” and, similarly to other Neptunian aliens “need periodic physical privacy in order to stay centred, and, if they can find it in no other way, going to a movie theatre will take care of this need”. Unconsciousness or rejection of their potentials results in addiction, victimisation, seclusion, hallucinations, dissoluteness, masochism, madness. Some famous Neptune Alien Powers are: Lisa Bonet, Susan Sarandon, Christina Aguilera, Michael Douglas, Dino Delaurentis, Ben Gazzara, John Keats, C.W. Leadbeater, Edouard Manet, Robert Mitchum, Paracelsus, George Orwell, Montaigne, Jim Reeves, Nelson Rockefeller, Ginger Rogers, Peter Rubens, Jean-Paul Sartre, Harry Truman, Immanuel Velikovsky, Esther Williams, William Wyler, Shelley Winters, Marshall Mc Luhan.

Plutonian Powers rule over all bardo states, secret activities, shape-shifting processes and irrevocable transformation, including death and birth. They are masters of shamanic composting and sex, knowing how to channel huge pent-up emotions and energy in alignment with multidimensional intentions. They can easily see beyond HAC appearances and identify whatever is kept hidden, reading between the lines and allowing emergence of secret and most controversial elements. Unconsciousness or rejection of their potentials results in cruelty, sex addiction, vengefulness, self-destruction, obsession, atrocities. Famous people with Pluto Power Alien traits are: Peter Jennings, Lena Horne, Ian Anderson, Loni Anderson, Pierre Cardin, Mick Jagger, Kathie Lee Gifford, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Knopfler, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Martha Stewart, Donald Sutherland, Patrick Swayze, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Josephine Baker, Peter Bogdanovich, Jacques Cousteau, Victor Hugo, Henrik Ibsen, Jean-Paul Sartre, Dean Martin, Norman Vincent Peale, Bertrand Russell, Billy Wilder, Emile Zola, Natalie Wood.

Sa, the Astroshamanic Spirit of Intelligence and Wisdom by Geline Brunt

Sa is an Egyptian word for the holy blood of the primordial mother Isis. According to ancient traditions we and our ancestors fed ourselves with this blood in the womb and carry it all in us. It is the menstrual blood, the "wise blood", which is the shamanic spirit of intelligence. It belongs to sector 4 (Cancer), but on a deeper level it carries the code of Gemini too, connected to all the 12 sectors. Unfortunately menstrual blood became a taboo (from Polynesian tutua, "sacred, magical" applied specifically to menstrual blood). While Cancer holds the Moon connection to menstrual blood, Gemini holds partly the connection through the shamanic "twin goddess" figures found in many Goddess worshipping cultures. It is an archetype for the sacred potential of bonding.

These figures are mainly images of shamanic women in trance, capable of joining their electromagnetic fields, especially during menstruation. This could lead to high-voltage healing energies, communication and information beyond HAC, powerful rituals and ecstatic prophecy.

In many agriculture civilisations women where so attuned to the Moon cycle and the tribal circle that they where all bleeding synchronised during the New Moon.

Agriculture rites, seasonal rituals and feasts where all aligned with the menstrual lunar calendar.

Through the multidimensional identity of tribal union, men where also part of the bleeding rituals. There was no separation. The menstrual blood was experienced as tribal blood related to the primordial mother.

During certain sacred sex rituals the blood was used for healing purposes and divine unity (as I described in the article about the sacred prostitute in PAN Issue 49) Unfortunately many men lost their deep connection with the blood and therefore created bloody wars. Menstrual fluid is also abused in rites of black magic and this is still an imprinted code of fear.

Gemini holds the key to communication and information and the connection to the power animal of the Bee. The Bee, our multidimensional communicator has a deep connection with the "yoniverse", the womb, the hive. That's why I like to re-awaken and re-activate the positive and powerful sides of using the menstrual blood in a shamanic way on HAC level. Here follow some examples.

· Create your own lunar menstrual calendar in your astroshamanic work. Nurture yourself during these days.

· Use reusable menstruation pads or a mooncup, and give your blood to the earth. You literally share your ancestral and planetary wisdom with the plants and the trees.

· Use your monthly powerful energies in a positive way in the sacred cone rituals.

· Astroshamanic touch, journeys and trance dance can give you and others inspiring insights during bleeding.

· Connect during menstruation on a multidimensional level with the astroshamanic network. Imagine your womb and blood are your inherited ancestral internet and send your sacred messages to the HAC or non-HAC Astroshamanic Network.

These are only a few suggestions. I like to envision the possibility of synchronised bleeding again and use it for healing purposes. As we as women attune to the astroshamanic circle and lunar calendar, we could manifest this long term!

At the same time men could feel the multidimensional tribal unity again and acknowledge the positive power of menstrual blood without fear.
